Prince at SXSW Review: Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough
@ZackTeibloom “Ain’t no party like a purple party, ’cause a purple party don’t stop.” Prince first said this early Sunday morning during his 50-minute-long second encore. When he said it again somewhere around his fourth or fifth encore, the artist currently known as Prince had the crowd wondering if the purple party would ever stop, and hoping it wouldn’t. Those of us in the front row may have been standing in line since 7:15 p.m., and continuously stayed on our feet for the next seven and a half hours, but when Prince said “We’ve only got 20 minutes left. Let’s make them the best twenty minutes of our lives,” at 2:40 a.m., we summoned what little energy we had left on the last day of SXSW to see what the man in purple would do next. Well, those of us who were left did. But we’ll get to that. Read the rest of this entry »
Coachella 2012 Line-up Podcrash
@ZackTeibloom Coachella 2012 line-up dropped last night and we’re pretty, pretty, pretty ecstatic with it. Radiohead is a 9.6-10 range, Black Keys are a solid 9.4-9.6 and has anyone seen Dr. Dre?! He can only make Snoop better. We’re also hyped for M83, Justice, Girl Talk, Feist, The Shins, The Arctic Monkeys, Grace Potter and oh [...]

Successful Crash #48: Sneaking Jack White Through the Alley
@ZackTeibloom I was worried about this crash for weeks. When Third Man Records announced they were having a showcase, it was pretty much a given that its founder, Jack White, would be headlining even though he was left off the initial bill. A couple weeks ago, Third Man confirmed that, for the second consecutive year, [...]
Why I’ll never break the 24 hour rule again
@AndyShore Today seemed to start well. I woke up, excited to see Coldplay perform on Kimmel tonight. I arrived at work and saw a message from a coworker about the scientifically proven most relaxing song ever. I put it on and read the article. There were a few other songs on the top listed. One [...]
MACCA: Live in Houston (I Know Why Girls Scream & Cry for Paul)
@ZackTeibloom I really thought I’d prepared myself for this one. Beyond the standard listening to the Beatles that everyone does growing up, I really went above and beyond to be ready for this moment in my life. I aced an entire three-credit class on The Beatles in college. I collected every Paul solo album I [...]
“Record Collecting for Girls” a Must-Read for All
@ZackTeibloom Last week, a co-worker walked by my cubicle and said, “I have some questions for you,” when he saw a copy of Courtney E. Smith’s new book “Record Collecting for Girls” on my desk. What I should have said was, “Shut your ignorant mouth. It’s not like I have The Babysitters Club’s “Boy-Crazy Stacey” [...]
