Continuing in our good luck of catching great covers, we walked over to Ben Folds just in time to hear “Bitches Ain’t Shit, but Hoes and Tricks.” He followed it up with “Zak and Sara,” “Kate” and and a 7+ minute version of “Narcolepsy.”
After losing momentum a little he picked up with “Rockin’ the Suburbs,” before going into his audience participation, “Not The Same,” where he asks the crowd to provide a three part harmony. He struggled at first, but after climbing to the top of the piano and speaker, had the audience singing along as he directed with ezaggerated hand motions. He’s a little better indoors in front of fans who know all the words, but he seemed to make some unexpected fans, as he’s been doing for over a decade now.
