Ivan Neville checks out the crowd as he tickles the ivories.
-A.S.
Sunday afternoon was all about the funk, and it kicked off with Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk. They took the stage with two bass players, so we knew they meant business. These guys are funky as can be, and both bass players held their own on vocals to go along with the excellent voice of Ivan Neville. A personal highlight was a quasi-cover of the Meter’s “Africa,” except instead of singing Africa, the band replaced it with New Orleans.
