Bonnaroo 2008 Discovery: The Arepa

-A.S. The first night we were at Bonnaroo Blake, my friend Jordan and I sat around our campsite and discussed how night one at the Roo had gone. Jordan told us that he had eaten several Arepas. Blake and I had no idea what he was talking about. He explained to us that an arepa was some type of cornbread grilled cheese sandwich.

I’ll tell you what I do know it is. Delicious. Blake enjoyed a couple over the course of the weekend and I had one as we walked back to our car after Robert Plant. Jordan explained them as a Bonnaroo phenomenon. After some research, I have discovered that they are from the Andes in South America. All I have to say is thank you Andes, and thank you Jordan for introducing us to this delectable Bonnaroo treat.

  1. Blake Said,

My god are they delicious. I had 2 and that wasn’t enough. If anyone is sort of on the fence about going to ‘roo next year the Arepa (capitalized for respect) is more than enough to be the deciding factor.

that looks so tasty. Gimme some. My favorite ‘roo treat is Gator meat and funnel cakes. And of course, sandwiches.
