-A.S. Caught up in the excitement of seeing Mike and Trey perform on stage together, I opted to head over to Mike Gordon instead of staying at the main stage to see Gov’t Mule. Anybody that knows me knows how much I love me some Warren Haynes, but I had to see what Mike was going to do after that Trey set. This guy can play the bass (and looks like Big Bri’s roommate).

Gordon took the stage with his new band, which consisted of a guitar player, keys, drums, and percussion. He played some stuff off his last solo album and some tunes off the new one, which is set to drop in a couple of weeks. All of them sounded pretty good, and had me looking forward to hearing the new disc.

I had the assumption that Trey might make an appearance, but I was pretty sure it wouldn’t be while we were allowed in the photo pit (during the first three songs). Right after the second song Trey walked out on stage, only to have Gordon announce that they hadn’t brought over Trey’s guitar yet.

Instead was a song about love, before which Gordon said he loved his new band and that he also loved his old band (yes, another Phish reunion murmer on Festival Crashers). After that Trey took the stage, but it was time for me to head over to John Mayer to get into the photo pit on time.
