-A.S. Denver, CO Tom Petty is one of those guys that seemingly has an endless set of hits. It’s always great when you think he’s played all of his hits and then he drops another monster on you. He always seems like he is having the time of his life on stage, and lead guitar player Mike Campbell never ceases to amaze me.

A fantastic light show went along with the rock great's awesome set at Mile High.

Early on, Petty had already played most of the songs you’d rattle off if someone asked you what he sang. “I Won’t Back Down,” “Free Fallin'” and “Mary Jane’s Last Dance” had already been played before I managed to meet up with Matt in the middle of the massive crowd.

Petty was feeling the love from the crowd, which he acknowledged as a bunch of singers.

After playing “It’s Alright,” A Traveling Wilburys tune, the following text conversation took place between Zack and I.

Me:Winwood/Petty “Can’t Find My Way Home” and “Gimme Some Lovin'” reprise. Doesn’t get old and Winwood played them both earlier.

Zack: You could play those everyday until I die and I’d never complain. The set wound down with Campbell flat out taking over the show. He was the center of attention for “Don’t Come Around Here No More” and “Refugee.” An encore that included “Running Down a Dream” and “American Girl” was simply the cherry on top of the incredible Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers show at Mile High.
