-A.S. Chicago, IL Blues Traveler opened up their Sunday set at Lollapalooza with a tune off of their soon to be released album, North Hollywood Shootout. It sounded good, and the crowd seemed to receive it pretty well. The second song was a cover of Charlie Daniels’ “Devil Went Down To Georgia,” that featured John Popper on harmonica during the fiddle parts.Maybe John Popper had seen the sign language people at the Bud Lite Stage. I think this was “the devil’s in the house of the rising sun.”

They debuted another new song called “You, Me and Everything.” The new songs really sound great, and I’m looking forward to August 26th when the new album drops. I finally found my brother Robby just as they started the beginning of “Run-Around.”Chan Kinchla can play the guitar, but a blue PRS is kinda goofy looking.

~Z.T.~ I came in just in time for “Run-Around” which was a perfect theme for that stretch of the afternoon. The harmonica I expected, the rocking guitar I did not. We even got a cover of “I Want You To Want Me.” Bonus.

I have to say i was very impressed with the crowd that turned out for blues traveler. i thought they were sort of the odd band out at this festival. I had seen them before at ravinia, so when i say “seen them” i mean i heard them coming from speakers in the back of the lawn. But this time around i actually got to see people playing, and it was a very pleasant afternoon set.
