~Z.T.~ Top 10 shows I’m looking forward to at ACL
1. Foo Fighters- It’s a crime I haven’t seen them yet. Dave Grohl is a force to be reckoned with and an inspired choice to close down the festival.
2. David Byrne- The former Talking Heads lead singer has a new album with Brian Eno that’s good, but I’m hoping for way more Talking Heads. I mean, I did name them the best American band of all time for a reason.
3. The Raconteurs- Oh, hey Jack. Did you ever know that you’re my hero? I know I’ve seen them twice and everything, but they’re my favorite touring band, plain and simple.
4. Beck/Robert Plant and Allison Krause- This scheduling decision may be the end of me. I’ll need a whole new post just to decide who I should see.
5. Vampire Weekend- Still my favorite album of the year, though the new Of Montreal has spent a full week on constant loop on my iphone.
6. MGMT- I blew seeing them at Lolla when that failed Slash show went down. Redemption time.
7. Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings- They’ve played a ton of shows at festivals I’ve been at and I never saw them. I’m finally going to make time for them.
8. Neko Case- I love her stuff with The New Pornographers and she was on the DL with a broken foot when I saw them at Summer Camp.
9. Jamie Lidell- I think Andy has a man-crush on this guy. He was great from what I saw at Lolla, so I’m excited to see him on an otherwise pretty weak Friday night line-up of shows.
10. Fleet Foxes- A soft, gentle performance at Pitchfork made me pay attention. A great early afternoon slot should be perfect for them.
Other notables: The Black Keys, Gnarls Barkley, Galactic, John Fogerty, Erykah Badu
