Pink “So What” vs. Ben Folds f. Regina Spektor “You Don’t Know Me”

~Z.T.~ Will Pink retain her #1 seed in the tournament or will Ben Folds and Regina Spektor be this year’s Cinderella? On the surface it seems like a blowout for Pink, but we’ve been proven wrong before.
~Z.T.~ “Oh, no” I said to myself as I walked into a Foot Locker a few months ago. Even before I could check out the new Jordan’s, I heard the na na na’s from this song as the video played in front of the store. I said “Oh no” because this was the catchiest song I’d heard since “Soulja Boy” and I knew I wouldn’t be able to escape it for a while. Turns out, I ended up kind of liking it. Then hating myself for liking it. Then just accepting it and being OK with my occasional appreciation of Pink. I don’t think I ever even saw the new Jordan’s. I was too into Pink. (Can you ever be too into Pink? hehe.)
-A.S. Ben Folds has written songs about suburban life and even made Dre sound catchy when sung by a white boy. Even when writing about his divorce, Folds made it catchy. “You Don’t Know Me” featuring Regina Spektor is probably his catchiest song yet. Spektor’s voice is a perfect compliment to Folds. The melody is both fun and catchy. Listen to this without bopping your head back and forth, I dare you. It’s the Cinderella story. Outta nowhere. A former greenskeeper, now, about to become the Masters champion. It looks like a miracle. It’s in the hole! It’s in the hole! It’s in the hole!…Sorry, I had to go there.

  1. Teibs Said,

Instead of dropping overly long quotes from “Caddyshack,” you could have at least given Dre his proper due. I assume you’re talking about “Bitches Ain’t Shit” by the good Dr. A song HOVA had nothing to do with. Speaking of “Bitches Ain’t Shit…” Ben and Regina are out of their league here and you know it.

  2. Shore Said,

There is no such thing as an overly long quote from Caddyshack. Shame on you.

Still … Dre is turning in his grave…

  4. Teibs Said,

*Shore originally wrote HOV instead of Dre. If you’re reading this now after he’s switched it back to Dre, the series of jabs above this will make little to no sense. Good day.
