~Z.T.~ On Christmas I wrote that seeing Girl Talk was what I imagined Christmas morning to be like. I was wrong. Finding out Paul will be at Coachella is Christmas morning. I can’t sleep and I want to put a big plate of Cookies. I’m putting on McCartney, pulling an all-nighter and breaking this festival down day by day in order of who I’m most psyched to see. The number next to each artist is the grade I’m giving them out of 10 based on shows I’ve seen.
Ex: Girl Talk is a nearly perfect live show, so he gets a 9.9 the Black Keys are always on the verge of being an (A) show, so they get an 8.9. Friday is head and shoulders above Saturday and Sunday for me.
Friday: Paul McCartney, Girl Talk (9.9) Black Keys (8.9) Franz Ferdinand, Morrissey, Ghostland Observatory (8.5), Los Campesinos!, Connor Oberst, Silversun Pickups, Ting Tings
Saturday: TV on The Radio (9.2), The Killers, MSTRKRFT, Amy Winehouse (8.3), Band of Horses (8.0), Fleet Foxes (8.5), Theivery Corporation (8.3), Michael Franti + Spearhead (5.7)
Sunday: The Cure, Lupe Fiasco (9.1), Public Enemy (8.7), Peter Bjorn and John (7.2), Throbbing Gristle, My Bloody Valentine, Perry Ferrell (6.4)
For your viewing pleasure, “Maybe I’m Amazed.” Sweet Coachella dreams.
Who are you most excited to see? Do you disagree with my rankings?

No disagreements – I saw PB&J at a day festival here in London. It was good, but something worth seeing if no one you care too much about is on. Like, enjoyable as you go to rehydrate in 100 degree weather by standing by the drinks stand.
And I know Girl Talk gets a bit of flack from Coachella goers – but when I saw him there in '07 it was exactly what was needed at that time. One big party – and it was so much fun.
Where do I begin with who I'm excited about? Everyone usually has that "one" night. Mine is Sunday. YYY to MBV to The Cure.
Other acts I yelped over:
Leonard Cohen, Beirut, Ghostland Observatory, TVOTR, MSTRKRFT, Atmosphere, Hercules & Love Affair, Amanda Palmer, Glass Candy, Gang Gang Dance, Antony & The Johnsons, Public Enemy, Jenny Lewis, The Kills, Clipse, Sebastien Tellier, Junior Boys, Vivian Girls…I'll end it here because I realise there are quite a few more…Some I've already seen live in recent months and they were really great. So I'm excited because Coachella often heightens something great into something amazing.

Thanks for the wonderful analysis. I’ll look into those. PBJ had power issues at Lolla two years ago when I saw them. Girl Talk has only gotten better. Seen 4 brilliant shows of his in the last 12 months. Glad to hear those Sunday shows are so strong. Not as familiar with them. ROCK ON!

Shows I'm super excited for that you did not mention:
Patton & Rahzel (way excited to see Rahzel again–Jake's/Axis/Walnut Street Tap show was great!), People Under the Stairs, TRAV$DJ-AM (I'm sure they're taking the bus there…to soon?), Dr. Dog, thenewno2 (Dhani Harrison's band I've mentioned on here before), Tinariwen (awesome afrobeat band), and Paolo Nutini.
Looks like we'll be discovering plenty of new music!

Do you remember seeing CSS at ACL Zack? I know the two of us won’t miss them being there…

Yeah Shore I distinctly remember walking and being insanely hot and tired b/c i was on day three of wearing jeans in 95 degree heat and trying in vain to come up with an acronym for CSS that showed how much i hated them. Don’t blame Sami. She gets wet for the lady rockers.
