American Idol Season 8 Hollywood Round 3

-A.S. Another Hollywood round. That’s what they get for giving away so many golden tickets. I hope today’s episode is a little less on the drama and a little more on the music. Let’s see if Tatiana Nicole del Torro creeps any closer to the Shelley Gillespie zone on the Hot/Crazy scale.

7:05 Adam Lambert is singing Cher. Thankfully, he’s not dressed in drag.
7:06 Matt Giraud is busting out Ray Charles’ “Georgia On My Mind.” He’s a dueling piano player, and gets the advantage of playing the keys this round. He sounds awesome and Kara is rocking out in approval.
7:08 Jamar Rogers (right) is the best friend of my boy Danny Gokey. Danny’s watching on the side of the stage, and it totally looks like they’ve got a major bromance going on.
7:10 Danny Gokey has got a great voice, but I didn’t love his song choice. He got a standing ovation from Paula at the climax of his performance (get your mind out of the gutter).
7:14 Anoop still impresses me with his voice every time I hear him. I just don’t expect that voice to come out of that person. ~Z.T.~ Are we not calling him Anoop-Dogg anymore? I miss that.
7:15 Scott Macintyre also got a standing ovation from Paula, which he says means he had the greatest time of his life out there. No high fives for Scott to celebrate this time. ~Z.T.~ Seacrest got his quota of messing with blind people this week when he was part of the Grammy’s show that stuck Stevie with the Jonas Bros.
7:16 Kendall Beard (left) is really hot. I don’t remember if I mentioned it before, but it’s worth mentioning again. ~Z.T.~ I think she’s from Austin. Helllllooo, Kendall.
7:17 Kristin McNamara totally got punked by Ryan Seacrest. It was pretty funny. He asked her what she would say if the girl that had screwed her over in the group round was behind her and wanted to apologize. She turned around and nobody was there. I’m a fan of hers. ~Z.T.~ Seriously, was this the Punk’d episode?
7:24 Tatiana Nicole del Torro is getting a crazy montage, and Simon was withholding laughter at the end of her performance.
7:26 Nathaniel Marshall is singing Rihanna’s “Disturbia” barefoot on stage. Such a whiny, emo cover. Meh.
7:28 Stephen Fowler does a funny squinty eyed thing while he’s singing. I guess it’s not to help him picture the lyrics, because he messed them up twice and walked off the stage.
7:36 Nick Mitchell went with his alter ego, Norman Gentle today. I hope he stays on the show, because the dude is hilarious. If he gets voted off, he should talk to VH1. They’ve given dumber people reality shows. ~Z.T.~ Really, Andy? You like this guy? He’s less funny than “Clerks 2.” What a hack.
7:37 Anne Marie is Zack’s girl, but I like her a lot less than some of the other female singers on the show. ~Z.T.~ I’m sticking with my girl. She’ll make it through tomorrow at least.
7:38 Ju’Not Joyner was basically just Gong Show-ed by Simon. He gave the signal for the band to stop playing while Ju’Not was still singing.
7:44 Kaylan Loyd was like the fourth person to mess up the words. WTF American Idol? Get some talent.
7:45 Leneshe Young is getting a feel good background story before her performance of “Love Song.” I always think they’re good to go if they get the feel good stamp of approval, but she wasn’t fantastic.
7:47 Michael Sarver was only listed with two names this week. Maybe somebody over at American Idol HQ is reading Festival Crashers.
7:49 Paula is on the verge of tears as soon as she walks into group two’s room, but it was a total mind f*ck. They’re advanced. ~Z.T.~ Instead of messing with three groups a little, I would have liked one big elaborate punk. Where’s Ashton when you need him? Wait, did I just say I needed Ashton?! Scrath that plan.
7:50 Further messing with the contestants, they can hear the other group celebrating in the room next door.
7:51 Paula is either deserves an Oscar for being able to cry on command, or this group is going home. Michael Castro (brother of last season’s Jason Castro) was in this group that got sent home.
7:57 The group that had been waiting the longest is the last to find out their fates. Most of my favorites are in this group. Obviously they were the ones that were the easiest decisions for the judges, because they made it through.
7:58 Tatiana Nicole del Torres was freaking out as the judges toyed with her group. Nick Mitchell/Norman Gentle was also among the ones from this group that advanced. ~Z.T.~ I think it’s pathetic that they feel the need to put people like Tatiana and Norman Gentle through b/c they’re big personalities. There are enough talented people out there not to stoop to that.

  2. Teibs Said,

I know you do. That’s why i put it up there. It’s one of the main reasons i didn’t want to do a movie blog. I can’t spend my free time telling you how much some comedies you think are hilarious suck ass. Clerks II is a slap in the face to the original.

  4. Teibs Said,

I think our Venn diagrams on music have much more overlap than our movie venn diagrams.
