-A.S. The American Idol results are in. Viewers were treated with a performance from the entirety of group one, as everyone tuned in to see who got voted off American Idol. Tonight’s results show also featured a performance from former American Idol contestants Michael Johns and Carly Smithson.
The first contestant welcomed into the American Idol top 12 was Alexis Grace. She was clearly one of the top two females from last night, getting the nod over Tatiana del Toro. With the pressure off, she performed Aretha Franklin “I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Loved You),” and sounded even better than she did last night.
The next contestant to make it into the American Idol top 12 was a bit more of a surprise. Ryan Seacrest set up Michael Sarver and Anoop Desai to find out their fates. Michael Sarver was the underdog, but he prevailed advancing to the top 12. Anoop Dogg is sure to be a favorite for one of the American Idol Wild Card Rounds.
Saving the best for last night may have worked, but it took the suspense out of the results show tonight. Danny Gokey (below) was clearly the best last night, and was a lock to advance to the American Idol top 12. He continues to be the Cinderella Boy, with the Cinderella Story. Searches for “Danny Gokey s wife” were in the top 5 of Google Search trends for a second straight day.Tune in next week for group 2′s shot at the American Idol top 12. Standouts from American Idol group 2 include Jasmine Murray, Matt Giraud, Adam Lambert and American Idol’s red headed step child in Nick Smith/Norman Gentle.
