sasquatch@ZackTeibloom First off, I can’t believe I’ve never even heard of Sasquatch Festival until @Matthew_Lingo asked me about it on twitter this morning, so thanks Matt. I checked the line-up and was blown away. It’s like the festival gods are listening to my prayers.

Ladies and gentleman, your 2009 Indie-rock all-star team.

(As always, the # next to the band is the score I give them from the live shows I’ve seen.)

The indie-rock all-star weekend will be played in the state of Washington (where they no longer have an NBA aquad) instead of Phoenix, but it’s the same crew of all-stars we saw last weekend.

This festival has everyone, from the front-runner for MVP of Indie rock 2009, Animal Collective (Lebron James) to 2008’s big three TV on the Radio, Of Montreal and Fleet Foxes (KG, Ray Allen, and Pierce). Perennial all-stars like Kings of Leon who are even bigger in Europe than they are here (Kobe). Legends are coming back for more greatness (NIN- Shaq)

It’s a fantastic Memorial Day Weekend line-up and I desperately want to go. I’m not particularly thrilled to see Jane’s Addiction as a headliner and I haven’t gotten into the Decemberists or Silverspun Pickups and I think they’re one big headliner short, but it gets better.

There’s a comedy tent. Music comes before comedy for me, but only slightly. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Patton Oswalt, David Cross, The Flight of the Conchords, Demetri Martin and Lewis Black at a festival and I know Andy had nothing but good things to say about Chris Rock at Bonnaroo last year.

The comedians for this year include: Zach Galifiankas, Demetri Martin, Tim & Eric Awesome Show Great Job, Todd Barry all of whom I love. I e-mail interviewed Zach G-Funk once and consider him as good as it gets for stand-up.

“I can’t hear you, take those boogers out of your mouth.”

Now I just need to find a way to get there. Thanks for the tip, @Matthew_Lingo. And thanks for caring @nobodylkl

  1. Shore Said,

I’d just like to throw it out there, that you were the one that suggested we leave NIN to go to Kanye at Lolla. I’m not saying I would have stayed at NIN, because I wouldn’t have, but you were the one that initiated the leaving.

The Wrens are the highlight of this lineup. I haven’t listened to the Meadowlands literally since high school but I just listened to “Happy” three times and am now thinking about rescheduling my trip to Israel to go to this festival.

the gaslight anthem are incredible live. i can’t stop listening to the knux album. the M83 record is amazing as well. and i know every word to blitzen trappers “furr”. and of course KOL. great fucking lineup. and Z.T, i’m not a big janes addiction fan either, i’m pretty upset that their almost guaranteed to be a headliner at lolla this year.

  6. Teibs Said,

Yeah, good analysis hodge. It’s a given that jane’s will be headlining lolla b/c of Perry running it an all. I just hope he doesn’t give himself an unopposed headlining slot as if he’s radiohead. At least give us options.
