@AndyShore Robert Cray is probably one of the best guitar players you’ve never heard of. He gets recognition, having played at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Festival, but not nearly as much as he should. Several attempts at describing Robert Cray’s guitar playing came off like a cheap romance novel. I wrote things like, “Cray gently caresses the notes” (referring to the minimalistic way he pulls off a Miles Davis-esque fewer notes with greater power feel to his playing).
I left a stellar New Orleans R&B All Star revue, just to see Robert Cray play. I even climbed onto the video camera riser in the pit to get a closer look at Cray working his magic. Not wanting to miss Allen Toussaint at the R&B All Star revue, I left the masterful Cray and headed back to the Blues Tent.
