@ZackTeibloom It made my crash-loving soul giddy to get this e-mail from Hodge today. As much as I love a good crash, Hodge went a step further, detailing a consistently easy way to crash a pretty major Chicago venue.
The bad news? You need to have someone on the inside. The good news? It’s like having a buy one, get 10 free ticket. Here’s the tip:
“I was there (Congress Theater) two weekends ago for the Paul Van Dyk/Benny Benassi show (which was mind blowing by the way.) In the men’s bathroom, there’s a door that opens up to outside.
“There were locks at the top, but they were just those slide locks that you have to pull down. This kid opened the door and let about 25 people in before a guard came into the bathroom. The guard just closed the door, locked it, and left. Then a different pair of kids did it again and another ten kids came pouring through.” -Hodge
If that doesn’t put a smile on your face, you don’t have the Festival Crasher spirit in you. I can’t wait to get back to Chicago just to test this one out.
Upcoming Congress Theater (2135 N. Milwaukee) shows to crash:
- July 2nd: Explosions in the Sky
- July 25th: Jamie Lidell
- August 6th Beastie Boys
- August 7th: Major Lazer (trust me on this one, new album is great)
