The Black Crowes @ Rothbury

blackcrowesrothbury @AndyShore Zack often laughs at my inclusion of Shake Your Moneymaker in my top-5 albums list. The fact of the matter is, ever since high school it’s one of my most played, most singable and most loved albums. I used to blast the whole album in my car to pump me up on the way to finals. Despite only playing a track or so off that album, the Black Crowes played a rager of a set.

The addition of Luther Dickenson to the band last summer took them to a whole new level. I saw him with them twice last summer. He showed he was not afraid to step on some toes, and make himself known out there. This year they are even tighter. Dickenson laid down jaw dropping solo one after another, meshing his sound well with Rich Robinson.

Chris Robinson is without a doubt one of the top rock vocalists on the planet. Aside from the killer set of pipes, he’s got the front man moves down. He is always ready to show you his best Jagger. The Crowes played a funky new song, that is available for free download on their website. Robinson also crooned “Oh Josephine” and had the crowd singing along. “Jealous Again” was a familiar face in a mostly newer set. The new material has me itching for the new album, and aching to see them again as soon as possible.
