The Hue @ 10klf

thehuetenk @AndyShore There isn’t really a good way to sugar coat having to compete with Dave Matthews Band at a festival. To the Hue’s credit, they remained positive. They knew not everybody in attendance at 10klf was a DMB fan. They put in the grunt work, passing out samplers and promoting their set. When I made my way up to the Saloon after shooting DMB, there was already a small crowd gathered.

“Like Lines” opened the set as more people began to flow into the barn. As soon as the all out onslaught of rock began, the crowd continued to grow. Eyes opened wide at the blazing guitar harmonies of Jared Rabin and Marcus Rezak. Tunes from the new album followed the opener, and have me very much looking forward to their album, Beyond Words, coming out next month. The crowd seemed to agree with me on the new tunes, because screams erupted after every solo and the Saloon continued to fill.

Soon, a decent sized crowd was enjoying the many new songs the Hue offered up. Some danced their fastest to the mind boggling rhythms of Brian Gilmanov, others grooved along with Kyle Myers on the bass. Everyone there raged their hardest to the Hue’s brand of progressive rock. Really, enough good things can’t be said about this band. They took a challenge like playing against DMB, and met it head on. They offered up one of the best shows I’ve seen of theirs in a while, and made everyone in the Saloon happy with a hard rocking alternative to DMB.
