mydeardisconorthhalsted @AndyShore When it comes to My Dear Disco, believe the hype. Just don’t believe guitarist Bob Lester when he tells the crowd they need to move in so he doesn’t face plant on his show closing rock and roll stage dive. Clever ploy aside, the crowd at the North Halsted Market Days was dancing away and enjoying the break in the day’s rain. Especially the two gentlemen in the back of the crowd dancing in their Speedos.

It took a while to find the stage, after deciphering which blaring music was actually the band and navigating through the throngs of individuals adorned in rainbows. “All I Do” greeted me as I arrived, featuring a soulful vocal sing-a-long led by Joey Dosik. Trying to put into words the musical display put on live by My Dear Disco is no easy feat. Always danceable, with catchy melodies and well put together harmonies, this band is a little bit of everything that makes you move.

Lead singer Michelle Chamuel sounds as good live as she does on their album, DanceThink. She led the band through “For Your Love” a crowd pleaser with a synth melody that will stick in your head for days. Onstage, My Dear Disco is funny and engaging. The interplay between Lester and fellow guitarist Theo Katzman shone through on the band’s Michael Jackson tribute “Move Your Feet (MYF).” Lester did his best running man while playing and Katzman wound up on his knees. Despite the crowd begging for more, the song closed the set due to city regulations.
