The Bright Light Social Hour @ ACL

brightlightsocialhouracl @AndyShore Winners of the Sound and the Jury, the Bright Light Social Hour, weren’t just happy to be there at ACL. Sure, they had the ear to ear grins any band playing the biggest show of their lives should have, but they brought the rock sauce as well. The band’s sound is a melting pot of genres, sporting gritty guitars with catchy hooks, indie rock vocals, funky bass and keys that manage to stand out against it all.

Singer and mustachioed bass player, Jack, strutted around the stage shirtless, graciously thanking the crowd over and over again. Song after song impressed and had me wishing we hadn’t wasted any of our time at Prescott Curlywolf. I may not have known anything about these guys going in, but that’s not a mistake I will make again. Look out for these guys, because they’re too good to have to be winning contests to get their foot in the door.

Clearly you do not understand the genius of the PWolf. Hush.

  2. Patricia Said,

I absolutely agree with you. This band is phenomenal, I saw them at Antone’s, what a wonderful show! They are amazing and, as you say, so appreciative of their public.

  3. Etel Said,

I went to the Dell Stage just out of curiosity and was very surprised by the quality of this local band. I think you did a great job describing them; I particularly loved their song “Detroit”, which I was happy to find out could be downloaded from their website!

[…] we caught Leatherbag for our first show of ACL, before discovering the Sound and the Jury winners Bright Light Social Hour. From there we caught some shade at the Austin Kiddie Limits stage with Paul Green’s School […]

They should already have a record contract. I want to hear them on the radio.
