“Blame It” vs “Birthday Sex” (Round 2)

@AndyShore Today’s round two match-up features the auto-tuned one-two punch of Jamie Foxx and T-Pain (wow that’s a lot of hyphens) going toe-to-toe with Jeremih, who just wants everybody to get some on their birthday. “Blame It” was catchy enough to land Foxx a performance on American Idol, despite the fact he auto-tuned the whole performance for a singing competition. “Birthday Sex” was catchy enough to merit Jeremih replacing the multiple-hit-having Drake at the LXM Pro event. Which one will advance to the next round?

“Blame It” – Jamie Foxx f. T-Pain

@ZackTeibloom Jamie Foxx might need the king of auto-tune to get his first #1, but at least it’s not a gimmick-song like “Birthday Sex.” Oh, who am I kidding? It’s an excuse song for every bad decision you could make while you’re out with nary a word sung without being rung through the auto-tuner. Every song in the Elite 8 is overproduced pop, but what sets these two apart? They both focus on the two title words being repeated over and over with other exaggerated syllables (“A-ah-ah-ah-ah co hol” and “Girl you know I-I-I-I”) They’re almost indistinguishable. You go with Foxx and Pain over the guy whose name you can’t spell just because you like them more. What else is there?

“Birthday Sex” – Jeremih

@Andyshore Like Zack said, these songs are mostly interchangeable. I just don’t agree with him as to why you should favor “Blame It” over “Birthday Sex.” Jeremih’s song is an homage to something everybody loves. Jamie Foxx sings a song about making excuses, shame and regret. “One More Drink” was a better song of the same topic, and also featured T-Pain. Come to think of it, why isn’t “One More Drink” on this bracket? I digress. Vote for the best present you can get on your birthday.
