mileyladygaga @ZackTeibloom It’s all led up to this. Miley. Gaga. The teen queen (Destiny Hope Cyrus) and the “Lady” (Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta*) take their bizarre made-up names and over-produced pop sensations into the finals. I’m proud to say I predicted this finals, but wish I could swap out my choice after seeing Gaga steamroll her way through the bracket. I think it’s going to come down to which of our contest entrants hypes up their song best. As we said in the wrap-up, Abby N. wins if Miley does and Zelin and J.Ho will have a tie-breaker if Gaga wins. Let’s get it on.

Miley Cyrus “Party in the USA”

@ZackTeibloom Lady Gaga was the Rihanna of this year. Everything she touched turned to gold. Miley really just had this hit, but what a hit it was. There was the controversy of whether Miley even knew a Jay-Z song. There was the surprisingly good Biggie mash-up. There was the “Really? She’s still doing the patriotic thing?” But above all else, there’s the song. Talk about a guilty pleasure. I genuinely like it from the first notes. The light guitar strum. The (dare I say rapped) lyrics by Miley as she talk about coming to L.A. for the first time. The high notes. I even like the damn Jay-Z name drop. It’s just a good old fashioned pop song in all its glory. And it’s the only song in the contest that got me laid. I’m “noddin’ my head like yeah. It’s a party in the USA.”

Lady Gaga “Pokerface”

@AndyShore I considered telling you I don’t even need to argue this one, since Zack has reverted to his punny ways. I’m better than that. We should have made the deal a slap bet. It would have either kept Zack from doing it, or landed him a smack down. Hindsight is 20/20. This was Lady Gaga’s year, and “Poker Face” saw the most widespread audience. It topped the charts in 17 countries and is the most downloaded song in the British chart history. The beat sounds like a dance party at a carnival. Everyone was singing along this  year, from Cartman and Christopher Walken to you and me. Vote for it t-t-t-t-today.

*See, pop stars real names are just as entertaining as rap stars.
