@ZackTeibloom Our winning entry comes from Shelley, a Chicago-Austin transplant like me, who had an even more interesting chain of events on her drive than I did. All I had to put up with was a blizzard and frozen highway that almost killed me and stopped my dream of having Reverend Al Green take me to church. Shelley captures the dichotomy of emotions in the song in her vivid description of her inner monologue on her journey.
As well as she captures the moment in her words, it’s the constant use of ellipsis that drives this entry home. The feeling of continuation. It’s not one moment. It’s a moment leading up to many others. Congrats on the signed poster, Shelley. Here’s her entry:

@ZackTeibloom The
@ZackTeibloom We’re one step closer. We now know who plays on each day, but we don’t know the hour-by-hour schedule. This makes it that much clearer that weekend two is the bees knees. Saturday of first weekend goes Simon & Garfunkel, My Morning Jacket, Drake, Better Than Ezra? Weak sauce. Compare that to the second weekend’s Sunday of The Neville Brothers, Van Morrison, B.B. King, Irma Thomas, The Dead Weather. The Neville Brothers always close down the fest, but I know I’ll be at Van after an incredibly strong TDW/BB combo. Ooh I have chills already. Based on last year, they always have two bands co-headlining each day, so as our friends at Offbeat Magazine tweeted at us, “You can almost kinda guess based on the type of music/size of act & their position in the paragraph of the daily schedule!” We sure can.
@ZackTeibloom Picture yourself in the Waterloo parking lot. The nicest January day you’ve ever felt. A shield-your-eyes-it’s-so-sunny afternoon. Picture the biggest band to come out of Austin in the last decade playing for free. It feels like I’m quoting a Spoon song, doesn’t it? Actually, I’m kind of quoting two. It’s the kind of thing you pick up on when you see a band you really like, but don’t love for the fifth time. You notice how Britt does the same “I’m playing the guitar like a machine gun” squatting pose, plays with his frizzy/matted down hair (depending on how he pushed it off his face last.) You notice how much of a rockstar he looks like with the leather jacket and sunglasses. How Australian he looks with his sunglasses off. You notice they start two songs the exact same way. Picture it.
@ZackTeibloom SXSW and Coachella and right around the corner, so we thought we’d have a contest with one of the bands. We’ve got a signed Temper Trap poster to give away. They’re one of those bands that you’ve heard before, but you may not even know it. Their single “Sweet Disposition” was featured in 500 Days of Summer, a Chrysler commercial and a Rhapsody commercial. I listed them in my “Heard OF them, haven’t heard them” category in my listing of bands on the
@ZackTeibloom Let me start by saying these are purely rumors. It’s a forwarded e-mail. That said, it doesn’t smell all that fishy. These bands are all on tour, most are major players on the festival circuit and have new albums coming out. At the very least, it’s a lot of good guesses. Jay-Z is headlining Coachella, Dave Matthews is the king of festivals, the Kings of Leon still are a major force (sadly), Pavement’s on their comeback tour, Arcade Fire has a new album in the works, The Dead Weather may have their second album out by then, yadda yadda yadda. They all make sense. Expect 2/3 of these to be on the official line-up.
