@ZackTeibloom We’re one step closer. We now know who plays on each day, but we don’t know the hour-by-hour schedule. This makes it that much clearer that weekend two is the bees knees. Saturday of first weekend goes Simon & Garfunkel, My Morning Jacket, Drake, Better Than Ezra? Weak sauce. Compare that to the second weekend’s Sunday of The Neville Brothers, Van Morrison, B.B. King, Irma Thomas, The Dead Weather. The Neville Brothers always close down the fest, but I know I’ll be at Van after an incredibly strong TDW/BB combo. Ooh I have chills already. Based on last year, they always have two bands co-headlining each day, so as our friends at Offbeat Magazine tweeted at us, “You can almost kinda guess based on the type of music/size of act & their position in the paragraph of the daily schedule!” We sure can.
Personally, I’d rather see the old time performers. Sorry Black Crowes, My Morning Jacket, Widespread and Pearl Jam. Seen all of you and loved you to varying degrees, but it’s a weekend to see classics.
Headliner Decisions 1st Weekend (FC choice in bold)
- Lionel Richie vs. Black Crowes
- Simon and Garfunkel vs. My Morning Jacket
- Allman Brothers Band vs. Anita Baker
Headliner Decisions 2nd Weekend
- Widespread Panic vs. Elvis Costello & the Sugarcanes
- Aretha Franklin vs. Allen Toussaint – Tough one. Personally I saw Toussaint twice last festival and need to see Aretha because I haven’t. Go with who you haven’t seen. If neither or both, go with Toussaint.
- Pearl Jam vs. Jeff Beck I bet even Pearl Jam wishes they could sneak away to see Beck.
- The Neville Brothers vs. Van Morrison The Neville Brothers close down every fest. See Van while you can. He canceled his Austin gig, so I’m extra excited to see this set to close down yazz fest.
