@AndyShore It’s the dreaded group night says Ryan Seacrest. That just means there’s going to be a whole bunch of drama to make fun of. The Mighty Rangers left a key word out of their name, and Phoenix is taken. Stupid American Idol contestants. The producers do have one thing right. Sticking dozens of divas into small quarters and making them work together can only end in hilarious results.
9:12 Call me old fashioned, but if my wife was in labor I would not be at American Idol auditions. Big Mike is so huge his wife was probably terrified to tell him he could not go.
9:14 I must be tired. I just figured out why Destiny’s Wild is punny.
9:21 Perhaps worse than your husband not being there for the birth of your child, is him speaking about how dilated your vagina is on national television.
9:23 Faith is performing first. Their three part harmonies were better than their solo parts, but they’re all advancing. This includes one of my favorites from the auditions, Ashley Rodriguez.
9:24 Team Awesome is my favorite team name. I think they sounded great singing the Temptations. The judges must be afraid of Big Mike too, because I thought the other big guy was better. He just wasn’t as big. The other guy going home is the brother of Jason Castro. Actually, it’s his
9:31 I thought Neopolitan sounded pretty terrible singing “Bad Romance,” but they are all advancing. I thought Destiny’s Wild sounded so much better. Plus, they did backflips. Even though Ellen called them weird, they all survive.
9:36 The Mighty Rangers broke the streak of entire groups advancing to the next round. It’s because they weren’t Morphin’
9:43 I told you Phoenix was a dumb choice for a team name. One of their teammates quit before the took the stage. Another girl forgot the words. Jermaine Sellers Mary J’d that note a whole bunch, but he’s moving on.
9:47 Some of these groups are doing their best impression of the drunk guys on SNL that only sing the parts of songs you know, doing Gwen Stefani’s “Sweet Escape.”
9:54 Middle C festures Janelle Wheller and Casey James, who are standouts from yesterday. They live up to expectations today. Three Men and a Baby featuring Andrew Garcia are also great.
9:57 Kara: “It’s like The Dream died.” Alex Lambert and Hope Johnson stood out despite their terrible group. So did Mary Powers, but I think they kept her for the crazy.
