@AndyShore Last night we discovered seven of the top 24 of American Idol Season 9. Tonight we find out the other 17. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that Andrew Garcia and Ashley Rodriguez are part of that group. Much like the contestants, Ellen is coming into her own this week in Hollywood. She has the hang of messing with the contestants, and has actually been able to offer valid criticisms. I hope that we don’t see the contestants repeat songs four and five times over tonight. I’ve had enough of “I’m Yours” and “Man in the Mirror” for one week.
9:01 The Final Judgment sounds downright biblical. I wish the judges would dress accordingly. That’d be hilarious. I like to think of Jesus black, with glasses and saying dogg all the time.
9:14 That was humane of Idol. Not only did they not send Lacey Brown home during Hollywood week two years in a row, but they didn’t even prolong her decision.
9:16 Crystal Bowersox sounds great singing songs in her wheelhouse. I don’t know that she’ll succeed when taken out of her element. I thought the same thing about Season 8 top-3 contestant Allison Iraheta. I hope she surprises me.
9:24 Ellen is telling Katie Stevens how much she doesn’t like being negative, because she’s such a positive person. I’m not sure where toying with people’s emotions falls on that spectrum.
9:25 Randy manages to sound fooled every time one of the other judges messes with a contestant. Is he not getting the memo about the TPS reports?
9:30 The touching support and send off of Angela Martin turned hilarious when Seacrest went for a consolation hug, which turned into an awkward back pat.
9:45 If Haeley Vaughn advancing to the top 24 means her being able to afford braces, then I can see the judges chalking it up to charity.
9:47 Randy followed telling Tori Kelly she’s going home with, and I quote, “that’s bad news.” As if she was confused.
9:54 Thaddeus Johnson has been set up to get knocked down, and Simon even seemed to feel bad about it. They made it too sad to laugh at. Except that he’s a little too old to go into a bathroom stall with his mom.
9:58 Andrew Garcia was too overcome with emotion to speak with Seacrest after finding out he’s in the top 24. Andrew did manage to get a laugh out of him, choking back tears long enough to spit out, “I’m usually the cool guy.”
Top 24 (from tonight): Janelle Wheeler, Tyler Grady, Lacey Brown, Ashley Rodriguez, Alex Lambert, Joe Munoz, Crystal Bowersox, Katie Stevens, Lilly Scott, Paige Miles, Siobhan Magnus, Michelle Delamore, Jermaine Sellers, John Park, Haeley Vaughn, Andrew Garcia, Tim Urban
