@AndyShore Yeasayer was the first band I saw at Lollapalooza 2008. I remember being impressed with their mix of funk, soul and world influences with an electronica base. I really dug their new album when it was released. I recommended them, when anybody asked me who they should see at Coachella this weekend. We needed a good set from them, after a brief appearance from Wale. My brother, @MattSilver and I got a good spot under the tent for the tail end of As Tall As Lions. They were pretty good, except for one slower song.
There was a short break as the bands changed. Yeasayer has so much going on, it’s hard to pinpoint what exactly they are. There’s multiple percussionists, several synths and great harmonies. The energy is high at all times. After a few songs, Rob asked me how he had never heard of them before. I had to remind him that he was at the Yeasayer show at Lollapalooza with me. They made a bigger impression on both of us this time around. We weren’t the only ones.
The tent was packed. Even Zack couldn’t fight through the crowd to get to us. We had a hard enough time fighting our way out of the tent to get to Street Sweeper Social Club. I was leading the way at first. Rob got frustrated and told me I would make a terrible running back. No vision.
