@AndyShore The original lead sentence I wrote for this preview stated that I had the festival itch ever since Electric Daisy Carnival 2010. Since that made it sound like I caught something from a spun out raver or hadn’t bathed since EDC, I’m just going to say that I’m excited for the one-day Audiotistic 2010 this weekend. We discussed on the Podcrash that while DJ festivals aren’t necessarily my scene, I do actually enjoy them. There’s a decent amount of great hip-hop mixed into Audiotistic as well. I will certainly come off as a n00b for saying this, but I can really only write honest previews for 3-4 of the artists at Audiotistic. I’m going to do that, and ask for your suggestions. Please and thank you.
1. Kid Cudi: One of the breakout stars in hip hop in a year that featured quite a few great rookies (Drake, B.O.B.). “Pursuit of Happiness” has been my jam, and has two great music videos. Who cares that he barely got one scene per episode in How to Make it in America?
2. Talib Kweli: One of my personal favorites in the hip hop world. Even if it did take me discovering him through his Hi Tek remix of Soulive’s “Bridge to Bama.” 2007’s Eardrum got heavy play from me and I especially like “In the Mood” featuring Kanye.
3. N.A.S.A.: I started paying attention to these guys when they started featuring just about everybody on their debut album. Big names include David Byrne, Kanye West, Method Man, RZA, M.I.A. and so many more. I’m hoping they’ve got a huge band up there with them onstage, and at a festival like this, a whole lot of guests.
4. A-Trak: Responsible for my favorite photo taken at Electric Daisy Carnival. This jew can spin. His sets with Travis and Duck Sauce were my two favorites at EDC. A-Trak goes on after Kid Cudi and will almost certainly keep me up way past my bed time.
