Jazz Fest 2010 Schedule Grid announced

Posted by teibs On March - 23 - 2010

jazzy@ZackTeibloom Finding out the hour by hour scheduling of a festival is equally exciting and frustrating. In some cases, it can be more frustrating as the overlaps you feared come to haunt you. We’ve got of overlaps 2nd weekend of Jazz Fest. Sunday is a cruel bitch. Van Morrison and The Dead Weather playing at the exact same time. OK, there’s a 10-minute overlap, but if you think I’m going to 10 minutes of Van (who will likely be 10 minutes late anyway) to NOT get a good spot for The Dead Weather, you’re crazy.

So, what to do when those two end? Make a tough decision between the next three acts. The Neville Brothers, B.B. King and Richie Havens. @Samifest insists there’s always tough conflicts at Jazz Fest, but this seems especially cruel. I’m so enraged with the Van Morrison/Dead Weather conflict that I’m turning it over to Kappel for the five other conflicts that have him wondering where he’ll be sippin’ on strawberry lemonade. I analyzed the 2nd weekend first since that’s the one Festival Crashers will be attending.

Sure, this is driving us crazy now, but at least it’s win-win. And if anyone underwhelms us, we have options. And they’re damn good. Read the rest of this entry »

Phish 2010 tour date rumors

Posted by teibs On March - 15 - 2010

phish@ZackTeibloom These are rumored Phish dates for 2010. Please take them as that. Rumors. Last year we predicted tons of 2009 dates. It ended up being about half accurate Phish dates and half completely unfeasible.

If you have any reasons why these will not be the 2010 Phish dates, please feel free to comment. We’re just trying to put together whatever information we can get. If these are accurate, how do you feel about them? What venues will you hit up?

Sasquatch 2010 Festival Line-up announced

Posted by teibs On February - 16 - 2010

sas@ZackTeibloom The 2010 Sasquatch Festival Line-up is out and it’s another crop of Indie-rock all-stars that makes a trip to the Pacific Northwest for Memorial Day weekend sound tantalizing.  Sasquatch goes down Saturday 5/29 to Monday 5/31 and the Pavement/My Morning Jacket/Massive Attack headliners are outstanding and even though I’d think LCD and Ween would be headlining with Pavement, the supporting acts will make this indie-rock heaven.

Below I’ve listed the 11 acts I’ve seen that will be there and the grades are 5 A’s, 5 A-‘s and a B. I’d be happy to come home with that report card. LCD and Pavement are all over the festival circuit this year as well and they’re welcome here. Ween has been doing the festival circuit for about a decade and even though Gene Ween aged 20 years in the last 3,* they’re still tearing it up with their own bare hands. The Dirty Projectors are the freshest thing in rock with their heavenly voices and Vampire Weekend is riding high off their #1 selling sophomore album, Contra. Throw in Miike Snow, Public Enemy (w/ Flava Flav), MMJ, Wale, The xx, Passion Pit, and a ton more and we’ve got a hell of a festival brewing here.  Read the rest of this entry »

Bonnaroo 2010 Line-up

Posted by teibs On February - 9 - 2010

bonnaroo@ZackTeibloom The 2010 Bonnaroo line-up unveiling was an exhausting mess, but we’re finally looking at a legit line-up. It’s a bit of a cross between Coachella and Jazz Fest with a few strong additions late in the night, it went from a big disappointment to a must-attend even if you hit Coachella and Jazz Fest. It’s amazing what adding a couple Jack’s (White and Black), Stevie, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Cliff will do. I’ve gone from a whiny “I’m not going” to “I must be there” and all it took was a nap. Let’s see what changed my mind and give this line-up the full attention it needs. Read the rest of this entry »

The Dead Weather 2010 Tour Dates Announced

Posted by teibs On February - 1 - 2010

tdwThird Man Vault posted details on The Dead Weather’s upcoming 11-date two week tour in late April, continuing into May. Pre-sale is currently only available for Third Man Vault members, which I’m happy to say I am. Here in Austin, we’ll be saying goodbye to April showers and bringing in May flowers with a month-ending show at Stubbs. Personally, I hope it pours that night. The Dead Weather will be coming back to Austin after their incredible ACL show last year with a new album to promote. No title or tracks have been leaked yet, but Vault members will soon be treated to vinyl pressings of tracks they’re working on. Full line-up of Dead Weather Spring tour dates after the jump. This is one show I’ll be buying a ticket for. See ya at Stubbs, Austin. See ya soon, Jack White.

Update: I bought two tickets this morning and they came out to about $33 each w/ shipping and fees. Read the rest of this entry »

Coachella 2010 Line-Up: Confirmed and Rumors

Posted by shore On December - 23 - 2009

coachellatwentyten @AndyShore I saw some Twitter buzz earlier from Zack about the Coachella 2010 line-up. I remember reading some rumors last week, but didn’t realize that anything had been confirmed. MCA did an interview recently discussing his triumph over throat cancer and saying the Beastie Boys were weighing Coachella 2010 as their return. There are some stellar acts already confirmed, with some even more excited bands that are rumored. Zack and I were really hoping to get press passes last year to see Paul McCartney, but all will be forgiven for passes this time around. I’m officially out here on the west coast, and they better recognize. Read the rest of this entry »

Roster McCabe: Be a Part of New Album

Posted by shore On December - 11 - 2009

rostermccabealbum @AndyShore Roster McCabe first came onto my radar when Kinetix came through Chicago during their Spring tour last year. They had just played a bunch of shows together and had struck up a friendship. I met Drew Preiner at 10klf and saw them play to a very packed Store the following week. They’ve got excellent musicianship and great songs. Billboard Magazine even recognized them as one of the bands to look out for on the jam scene. At 10klf I listened as Drew and Eric Blumenfeld of Kinetix discussed the trials and tribulations of making an album the right way. Last week, Roster McCabe announced just how they  intend to do that. Eclectic Method- The creators of Phish Fest 8 montage video

Posted by teibs On November - 17 - 2009

eclectic1@ZackTeibloom Festival Crashers have been super into mash-ups lately. We’ve been Girl Talk crazy forever, danced on stage with Hood Internet and Car Stereo (Wars) this month and my car stereo is being dominated by Hood Internet mix tapes.

Audio mash-ups are great, but the Phish Festival 8 video montage that Electric Method put together is something we had to talk to them about. You can all watch it, but I’ll let Andy let you know what it was like to be there.

“A video that began with “Thriller” turned into a whole mashup of the albums, songs and videos involved with the original 99 albums. As fans recognized different faces and songs throughout the video, roars would erupt for their favorites. Personally, I was just trying to figure out what tricks Phish had up their sleeve and whether or not they were actually playing the Rolling Stones. Alas, the video ended with the Stones and I could start breathing again knowing that I was about to get my “Rocks Off” with Exile on Main St.” -@andyshore Read the rest of this entry »
