Hmm, Lil Wayne pining after the prom queen, who then comes back for him when he makes it big. I hated this song the first time I heard it … when it was called “Sk8r boy.” I appreciate the wailing guitars, but yikes. And getting Korn to play back-up? FAIL.

~Z.T.~ I didn’t add that ! to their name because of my excitement over them. It’s just part of their name. I could have though. I can’t get enough of these guys. I found Los Campesinos! thanks to Brian McFillen, the indie-music reviewer who clued me into “what the kids are listening to” when I ran WEEKEND magazine’s reviews section. It was on his best of 2008 list and now it’s climbing up mine. I have no idea what this video has to do with the lyrics, but it should at least carry you through the slowish first minute and a half of the intro.

~Z.T.~ Here it is. The first of many Festival Crashers videos. The original concept was a quest for catchiest song of the year with clips of all 16 nominees. Well, we don’t “have the rights” to all those songs, so we got the rights to three of the songs, found a crew and it came together. Here’s what we came up with:
