@AndyShore Last night was a pretty underwhelming finale. It was also the lowest rated American Idol finale to date. Despite getting rave reviews all day today for Adam Lambert’s performance of “A Change Is Gonna Come,” I was not a fan. Kris Allen’s performances, minus “Ain’t No Sunshine” were sub par. The worst performance of the night was “No Boundaries” which was penned by judge Kara DioGuardi. That song should never, ever have been allowed to see the light of day. If you haven’t yet, Google the lyrics. They’re as dumb as the song is bad. Read the rest of this entry »
@AndyShore I have been pretty good about making sure to live blog the performances of American Idol this season. Game Two of Blackhawks v. Red Wings takes precedent ten times out of ten. I was raised to despise all things Detriot, especially the Red Wings.
An overtime loss for the Blackhawks does not leave me in a good mood. Add to that upcoming ankle surgery and a six week stint on the DL and I’m ready to tear these contestants a new one. Come to think of it, American Idol, it would have been much more convenient for the season to start now. How inconsiderate. You should have known I was going to fall down some stairs and be stuck to the couch for the next six weeks. Shame on you. Read the rest of this entry »
@AndyShore This is really the first week in a long time that I have absolutely no idea who could go home tonight. Last week Danny Gokey and Kris Allen were much worse than Adam Lambert, but Adam was the one in the bottom three. All three of them are in the bottom three today (that’s not a very glass half full perspective). I have no idea how they’re going to fill a full hour today. Seacrest has a lot of messing around with the three of them to do. Read the rest of this entry »
@AndyShore Tonight we have to sit through extensive montages of the top three contestants’ grand returns home. The payoff is two performances from each of the remaining contestants. One song is the contestants choice. The other performance is the judge’s pick.
It’s a good way of measuring what kind of music the judges think the contestants could record versus the opinion of the contestants. Congratulations American Idol on your 300th episode. Do TV shows have birthdays? Read the rest of this entry »
@AndyShore Adam Lambert remains the favorite after last night. He and Allison Iraheta were clearly the best. 3/4 of the performers will make up the bottom three tonight. Danny Gokey and Kris Allen both had subpar performances last night. I am not looking forward to Paula Abdul’s performance. Perhaps even less than I am looking forward to Daughty’s performance. I’ve seen him live once. Well…he sang the National Anthem a Bears playoff game once, if that counts. It may have been the same game that Fall Out Boy was booed at halftime. Back to American Idol, I don’t want to see Danny Gokey go home yet. Read the rest of this entry »
@AndyShore This is rock and roll week. I’m hoping Slash and a good dose of rock will make me forget how bad the Blackhawks played tonight. They were saying on the postgame show that it was the quietest playoff game ever. The fans had nothing to cheer about. We were never in that game. Homer grumbling aside, Adam Lambert and Allison Iraheta figure to be strong this week. They both can rock with the best of them. Kris Allen is the least likely to rock out of these guys. @AndyShore It is hard to pick a best and worst from last night. Everyone was mostly good. I would have to say that Matt Giraud was my least favorite last night, but Simon called his performance brilliant. Adam Lambert and Danny Gokey were the best, if I have to make a call. More than half of the contestants left will comprise the bottom three tonight. That is odd to me. Read the rest of this entry »
@AndyShore Back for another American Idol live blog. My apologies for missing out on the results show last week, but I was in transit to New Orleans for Jazz Fest. I did think of American Idol while I was there. During Earth, Wind and Fire, I told Zack that Danny Gokey had performed “September” when the EWF started playing the song. Tonight’s theme is standards from the Rat Pack era. The contestants are looking quite dapper in their Rat Pack attire. Read the rest of this entry »
@AndyShore I think that last night’s episode was overall mediocre. Many of my favorites didn’t have their best performances. Adam Lambert continued his strong showing, and Anoop Desai impressed me as well. I thought Lil Rounds’ performance was better than the judges gave it credit for, but think that her and Matt Giraud may be in trouble this week. Not looking forward to Miley Cyrus performing at all. @AndyShore My apologies for the late American Idol “live” blog. Tickets to the Bulls game in the all you can eat/drink Harris box took precedent. Do you blame me? Tonight on Idol, the theme is year of birth. The recording started during Danny Gokey’s (left) performance of “Stand By Me,” and I think I missed the pictures of the judges when they were tikes.
